BHASVIC StoryWorks ‘Everyday Histories’ Open Morning and Tours

Following the award-winning Community History Festival in March, BHASVIC is delighted to open its doors to the general public once more for its second event of 2026, run by the StoryWorks Society, this time as part of the Heritage Open Days festival.
Find out about the school's use as a military hospital in WW1, the ghost of 'matron', the links with Aubrey Beardsley and see the spectacular College Hall paintings by Ditchling School artist and former pupil, Louis Ginnett.
At our Community History exhibition in the Main Hall, come and talk to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and the Royal Pavilion and Museums team to explore the importance of 'everyday history' in Brighton and Hove and the work they are doing with the College to uncover the real lives behind the names inscribed on the walls.
Alongside the exhibition and open morning, bookable tours of the old and new buildings will be running throughout the morning!

This award follows the success of our Community History Festival in March. Skills Week
Maisie & Alison from the StoryWorks team led a work experience week with first year students, planning the Heritage Open Morning event, developing tours, creating displays, and researching restoration costs, as well as hearing about working in the Heritage Industry from Sarah Nathaniel (Commonwealth War Graves Commission), Barnaby Salton (Royal Pavilion & Brighton Museums) and Rufus Davis (Museums Intern - Sussex Uni).
